There's news for drivers traveling on the 131 in the coming days. From Monday, January 12th, until Wednesday, January 21st , traffic restrictions will be in effect on the ramps of the Paulilatino junction on the 131 "Carlo Felice" state road in the province of Oristano.
"The measure," ANAS clarifies, "is necessary to allow for the installation of crash cushions and motorcyclist safety devices. The entry and exit ramps will be closed alternately in both directions. Traffic heading to Paulilatino can alternatively use the exit located at km 119."
For a long time, this stretch of road was restricted to allow for the construction of a new interchange to eliminate the at-grade intersection where so many people have died over the years.
The interchange opened in early August. Work, which began in 2023, involved eliminating the at-grade intersection at km 120, building new interchange ramps, two roundabouts, and resurfacing the road connecting to State Road 131.
Additionally, work was carried out on the overpass near the junction, including new paving, the installation of new safety barriers, and new vertical and horizontal road signs. The total investment was €10.4 million.
