The underwater nativity scene will be set up tonight at 5 pm in the sea of Solanas. Now in its 30th edition, it is one of the few in Italy and unique in Sardinia. A story that began in 1994, with the divers of the historic SubSinnai club as protagonists and with the figurines created by the magical hands of the artist Franco Congiu, sculptor and diving instructor who has dedicated part of his life to the sea and its sculptures. Like these underwater nativity scenes that will be placed in the bay of Solanas. But also that of the Christ of the Divers of Torre delle Stelle which is celebrated in August.

The pink trachyte statues, about 70 centimeters tall, are traditionally carried by divers to the natural cave five meters deep the week before Christmas, where they find shelter from the sea currents and remain there until January 6. A regular event that involves dozens of divers from the Sinnaese club and the police for this unique and magical performance, in the presence of numerous authorities and dozens of spectators who watch the spectacular display from outside.

The appointment is for 5 pm at the Madonna della Fiducia church, where the mass will be celebrated by the parish priest Don Diego Zanda. It will be followed by the suggestive torchlight procession to the beach where the priest will bless the statuettes before the immersion.

The event, which is organized by the SUB SINNAI club in collaboration with the Madonna della Fiducia parish of Solanas and the Torre delle Stelle Nautical Club, will also involve the Segossini Choir this year, which will accompany the mass and the Christmas novena with its songs.

During the mass, the sacred image in high relief that will be placed by the divers of the SubSinnai club next summer in the waters of Solanas, on a seabed 10 meters deep, will also be presented to the population and blessed by the Parish Priest.
