Today, the technical report presented yesterday in the City Council by the head of the urban planning sector of the Municipality of Sinnai, Paolo Monni, will be delivered to the competent offices of the Region. A study with clear indications that rejects the project to install 250-meter-high wind turbines that a private company presented to the administration last May.
As stated by Mayor Barbara Pusceddu at the opening of the meeting and as already stated in the City Council about ten days ago with a unanimous vote: «None of these “iron monsters” can be hosted in the territory of Sinnai».
There could be some minimal space left for photovoltaic systems, too “small”, however – it has been pointed out – to stimulate the appetites of those who want to do business with these interventions.
The doubt persisted on a large surface always within the municipal territory with an area that could have been suitable but that now, always according to the studies, is no longer, given that the same area is currently affected by a project of the Consortium for the reclamation of southern Sardinia to finally bring water to the fields, with the hope of relaunching agriculture. A project already in the study phase and above all, already financed by the Region at the end of the last legislature with three million euros. The same Consortium, moreover, has already certified the process of starting the project.
In other small spaces, photovoltaic systems could be built and even some wind turbines with a maximum height of about fifteen meters, therefore "not impactful" like the mega-turbines that have been discussed so far, rejected by everyone. A very clear report presented by the technician of the Municipality.
SOLANAS – A small church could instead contribute to blocking the installation of wind turbines in Solanas too: it is the small church of Santa Barbara, on the hills of the tourist resort for which, it was said in the Council, the Superintendency should soon be asked to be recognized as a cultural asset, thus blocking any possibility of installing wind “towers”.
To produce clean energy, "different solutions" could be sought, noted Forza Italia councilor Walter Zucca, proposing hydroelectric power in the Santu Barzolu dams, an area of environmental and archaeological interest that would not be affected by this project, which is not at all "invasive".
THE MOTION – The mayor Pusceddu, the councilors Aurora Cappai, Roberto Loi and Walter Zucca spoke in the council debate. During the meeting, a motion was also presented by Zucca and the minority Uniti per Sinnai and Forza Italia for the establishment of a renewable energy community in Sinnai and for the creation of a special municipal commission.
After the motion was explained, Progressive Councilor Ruben Tremulo asked that the motion be brought and discussed first in the Commission and then in the Council. The proposal was accepted and the word on this issue now passes to the Commission that should be elected next week.
