Seui celebrates one hundred years of Doctor Chillotti
He is the thirty-first in the country to reach this great milestone.Seui celebrates its thirty-first centenary: it is Antonio Chillotti, an exceptional testimonial of what researchers today define as "active old age" characterized by high quality of life parameters. The community and administrators have reserved a party in the council chamber for the new centenarian: "These of our doctor Chillotti are the hundred years that we wish for everyone, when we say "A chent'annos cun salude"", says the mayor Fabio Moi . "For our community he was a point of reference, a "young" man curious and in step with the times even at seventy, when in the nineties in Seui he was one of the first to try his hand at computers, later dedicating himself to educating others in this subject".
Antonio Chillotti is "Doctor Chillotti" for everyone in Seui: an expert pharmacist who has dispensed advice and remedies, including Galenic ones, for over fifty years, from 1961 to 2014. A life that lasted a century and was crossed by many phases, like declinations of different existences. As a child he attended elementary school in Seui, middle school at the Salesian Institute in Lanusei. He left for military service before undertaking university studies, which he completed in 1953. The year after graduation he married Carmen Piga, also from Seui, with whom he had five children. His first pharmacy opened in Ulassai until 1961, when he decided to return to Seui and take over his father's pharmacy.
Doctor Chillotti was also a middle school teacher. He loved animals, especially dogs, and this detail also says a lot about the gentleness of his character. His dogs, small mixed breeds, were mascots for generations of children as well as faithful witnesses at the pharmacy door of their master's work. Like the small, very sweet Briciola who invariably approached the fence when the kindergarten children played in the courtyard as if to greet her little friends. For Doctor Chillotti, it was a completely formal and truly emotional celebration: the children of the schools dedicated poems and nursery rhymes to him so much so as to move the soul of this great old man , a monument of experience and knowledge. Who, visibly moved, asked: "What have I done to deserve so many honors?"
