Vandals at work at the "Parco di Elena" on Via Gramsci, in Settimo San Pietro.

Unknown intruders broke into the fenced-off and gated square, damaging furniture and other equipment and even making a hole in the wall surrounding Casa Dessì.

Mayor Gigi Puddu immediately issued an order closing the park for safety reasons. "With great bitterness and regret," Mayor Puddu explained, "I issued an order closing the small square adjacent to Casa Dessy, renamed "Elena's Park" a few years ago. This measure was made necessary by numerous and repeated acts of vandalism that have damaged the park's equipment and furnishings, putting people's safety at risk."

The mayor himself informed the Sinnai Carabinieri and the local police, who immediately launched an investigation. He also announced that "the entire playground will remain closed to the public until the municipal administration raises the necessary funds to redevelop the square."

The Local Police Command and other law enforcement agencies are responsible for ensuring compliance with the ordinance's provisions, fining anyone who enters the area without authorization.
