We are talking again about Superhando, a multifunctional structure built to build prostheses and to take care of the handicapped: almost completed, never inaugurated and abandoned to its fate for many years with serious damage inside the structure.

The first stone of Superhando was laid in 2010: almost ten million euros were spent. Then silence, with the structure remaining closed, opened only by vandals to cause damage inside. After years of waiting, protests and positions taken by the Municipality, which also turned to a lawyer, the Regional Council chaired by President Alessandra Todde and on the proposal of the Councilor for Hygiene and Health and Social Assistance Armando Bartolazzi approved a resolution through which essentially the Municipality of Settimo San Pietro is given the mandate to publish an exploratory investigation preparatory to the assignment for the construction and management of the Superhando Center, within a catalog of services identified and that could be proposed by the parties interested in managing the structure.

In short, we are moving towards the management of Supehando to finally start the healthcare activity as originally planned.

"For now," says the mayor of Settimo San Pietro, Gigi Puddu, "we are satisfied with these developments in the story, but we will monitor the continuation of the process with great attention so that Superhando does not remain an eternal unfinished project but can become an element of growth and development for our community. The project for the work and then its construction were the result of a program agreement stipulated between the Region, the ASL and the Municipality of Settimo which provided for the relocation of various services managed by the ASL to the Settimo structure. Due to a whole series of responsibilities and failures, certainly not attributable to the Municipality," Puddu specified, "the program agreement never actually materialized, resulting in the failure to enter into operation of the structure and a waste of public money in the form of European, state and regional funding, used for the construction of the work."

Gigi Puddu also recalls that «in these years, however, we have not given up on this seemingly inexorable drift, but we have always stubbornly and tenaciously tried to interact at various levels with the political and technical bodies in charge that have alternated at the helm of the Region over time, resorting in extremis also to legal action to assert the reasons of the Municipality and therefore of the Settimesi. A few months ago, discussions with the Region resumed, in particular with the department, with the aim of identifying a path that would allow the implementation and use of the structure. The action undertaken has therefore begun to produce the first results».
