A 38-year-old man was arrested by the Forestry and Environmental Surveillance Corps on charges of setting fires in the La Maddalena area.

The fires for which he is suspected date back to last June, when flames broke out in four different points in the Moneta area, in an area characterized by wooded areas and Mediterranean scrub subject to landscape restrictions and falling within the Archipelago National Park, as well as close to some homes located in the localities of Piticchia and La Ricciolina.

Some ground teams immediately intervened to put out the fires, coordinated by foresters, who then started investigations and collected testimonies.

In the end, "serious indications of guilt were found against the suspect" against whom the Tempio Prosecutor's Office requested and obtained house arrest pending trial.
