The decision of the Santu Antinu association to prune the trees located inside the courtyard of San Costantino in the perimeter where the Ardia takes place enters the political arena. The minority councilors of the "Prospettiva Comune" list Gianni Meloni, Angelo Putzolu, Pietro Caria and Graziella Carboni, contest the methods of execution .
"After such a drastic intervention," they write in a document, " the fact remains that the plants, due to the significant cuts, will be exposed to bacterial and fungal attacks and in the best of cases, for a period of two or three years the sanctuary will look like a desert."
The opposition argues about how the cut was made: "Anyone who consults the most recent studies", explains the minority, "will be able to see that in evergreen species, such as holm oak and cork oak, pollarding is strongly discouraged. The people of Seggiovia know that the foliage was in good condition, one wonders what inspired the intervention" .
Mayor Salvatore Pes clarifies that " the municipal administration has no responsibility for what happened, as the technical office was not involved in any way . The type of cut", Pes emphasizes, " was decided by the company in charge and in any case the intervention was necessary to allow a better view of the Ardia".
