Sassari: Young man commits suicide after pedophilia charges; four men face trial

Injury and death resulting from another crime. These are the charges leveled against four people from Perfugas , indicted by preliminary hearing judge Gian Paolo Piana, who appeared in court yesterday in Sassari. The charges relate to an alleged beating of a 26-year-old in 2023, "motivated" by the young man's seclusion, according to the attackers, with two minors for a sexual approach.
The man was allegedly kicked and punched, and was subsequently accused of being a "pedophile." According to the prosecutor's theory, the man, unable to bear the defamatory accusation, along with the assault and public humiliation, took his own life that same day.
The first hearing in the trial will be held in November by Judge Marta Guadalupi. The defendants are represented by lawyers Pietro Diaz, Mariano Mameli, Domenico Putzolu, Carlo Manca, Mauro Muzzu, and Roberto Piga, while the civil party is represented by lawyer Antonello Sechi.
