The operation by the local police of Sassari to control speed on the roads will continue until November 30th.

From today the telelaser will be positioned on the SS 200 (Sassari-Sorso), SP 18 Bancali, SP 42 Campanedda, via de Martini, via Domenico Millelire, via Prati, via Budapest, via Predda Niedda, via Buddi Buddi, viale Porto Torres, a Ottava (ex. Ss131), on the ex SS291 Sassari-Fertilia and in via Caniga.

From January to September, 420 speed limit violations were reported, mainly in the Ottava area (146) and in via Predda Niedda (142). In the same period, 21 licenses were suspended.

The vast project also includes prevention, discussions in schools to meet young people and strengthen their culture of legality, and information campaigns.

The transparency operation has a predominantly preventive purpose: the locations are in fact always communicated in advance.

With the device used to ascertain whether speed limits have been exceeded, the local police carry out immediate complaints, stopping the driver when the illicit conduct is ascertained. This creates immediate awareness in the transgressor of having committed a dangerous action, for himself and for others. At the same time there is the possibility of raising objections which can be noted in the dispute report.

There are five ongoing road safety campaigns: zombie smartphones aimed at repressing the use of cell phones by pedestrians crossing the road; strengthening of controls aimed at repressing the use of mobile phones by drivers; assessment of the psycho-physical state of drivers; traffic police stations aimed at ensuring the use of seat belts and child restraint devices on board vehicles.
