Sassari, the Festha Manna has begun: the Massai flag is displayed at the City Hall.

The Festha Manna, the city's identity event, has begun in Sassari.

This morning, Mayor Giuseppe Mascia and the Massai Guild traveled from the Palazzo Ducale to the Palazzo di Città, on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the city hall for the day. The banner of the Massai, the oldest guild in the city, once stripped of its willow and nightshade, symbols of belonging to the land, was dressed and displayed on the building's terrace.

A sign of a takeover, this evening the same association, the last to descend during the Faradda, will ascend to the upper floor of the City Hall. There, together with the mayor, they will share the traditional "a zent'anni" toast.

Then the respective banners, the civic one and the Guild's, will be withdrawn, and the Descent towards Santa Maria di Betlem will continue. Tonight, however, following the completion of the Vow to the Madonna Assunta to protect the city, the Massai and the mayor will return to the Doge's Palace for the Intregu rite, which will see the outgoing Marcello Pittalis replace the incoming Emilio Polo as Guild's chief worker.
