No pig farming in Caniga . The Sardinian Regional Administrative Court , Second Section, rejected the appeal filed by the company owners, Antonio and Andrea Moro , who last year established an intensive pig farm in the village.

The initiative immediately sparked protests from residents and environmental groups, and prompted interventions from, among others, the L'Elefante Nella Stanza Committee, the Caniga S. Giorgio Consortium, and the Maccia d'Agliastru Consortium. The SUAPE soon issued a ban, following a proposal from the Metropolitan City of Sassari, which had identified irregularities in the facility.

Meanwhile, in February, the eviction of the animals began, at the direction of the Local Health Authority (ASL), and the legal battle began with the initial rejection by the Court of the suspension requested by the Moros. Last April 8th, the hearing on the merits was held in Cagliari under the accelerated procedure . This culminated in the ruling issued a few days ago, which, as previously reported, rejected the appeal seeking the annulment of the SUAP order.
