He escaped house arrest and was hit by a local police car. It happened two years ago, in the historic center of Sassari, when a 45-year-old man from Sassari left his home despite a judge having ordered him to be under house arrest within a certain time frame. However, the man broke the order and walked down an alley in Sassari Vecchia, eventually exiting onto Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

He then steps out onto the road, without looking, and is hit by the car that suddenly appears in front of him, leaving him unable to avoid it. The 45-year-old faces a double penalty for leaving his home: a month's cast on his arm and a charge of tax evasion.

In recent days, Judge Silvia Masala, however, decided to acquit the defendant, represented by attorney Maria Domenica Camboni, due to the particularly trivial nature of the offense. Camboni had highlighted the absence of any recidivism as alleged, as well as the particularly trivial nature of the offense. Prosecutor Ilaria Achenza, however, had requested a conviction.
