Beaten and threatened with death. A trial for domestic abuse and assault began today in Sassari court. The defendant is a 35-year-old man from Sassari. The victim is a 40-year-old woman who, for two months between September and November 2025, both in the hinterland and in Sassari, allegedly endured the violent behavior of her ex-partner, which was exacerbated by his alcohol abuse.

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, these included being beaten for not waking him up for work, or for, he claimed, not cleaning the house properly. The same treatment, including punches, was also applied for not cooking a meal to the 35-year-old's liking. The domestic ordeal apparently spilled over to the street, where the woman was insulted, threatened with death, punched in the chest, and thrown against a wall. Once home, she was allegedly kicked out and left homeless, without the man giving her dog back. An altercation ensued, in which the 40-year-old was again struck in the face, resulting in a 10-day hospital stay. The defendant was represented by lawyer Bastianino Ventura, while Claudio Mastandrea, a civil party, appeared in today's hearing.
