A 47-year-old man was arrested by the local police in Sassari after months on the run.

He had been sentenced to 6 years and 7 months by the Court of Oristano on charges of mistreatment in the family, personal injury, substitution of people, false attestation of his identity.

The municipal officers stopped him in Piazza d'Italia for a routine check and recognized him thanks to his mug shots. The man was therefore arrested and taken to Bancali prison, based on the arrest order issued by the Oristano Prosecutor's Office.

The sentence also provides for him to be banned from holding public office for five years.
