Drug sales in Sassari's historic center, just steps from the San Donato school. Local police arrested two non-EU citizens last Saturday afternoon after tracking suspicious activity involving known drug users at a home on Via Lamarmora.

They first intercepted the latter, who had a dose of heroin, and then a Nigerian man who had come from the same house. Once inside the apartment, the officers found several doses of cocaine hidden in designated hiding places, between electrical outlets and plasterboard walls , as well as an electronic scale and packaging material. While the search was underway, other alleged customers knocked on the window of the house, presumably looking for drugs, also because they were known to be drug users.

The police then discovered, once they noticed the absence of the meter, that an illegal electricity connection had been made, thus also substantiating the theft charge against the person holding the rental contract.

The entire sale sequence took place while, a few meters away, at the San Donato school, a demonstration was taking place in which children were participating.

The two arrested men appeared in court this morning for a summary hearing, represented by attorney Elisabetta Udassi. At the hearing, prosecutor Giovanni Dore requested that their arrest be confirmed and their detention be ordered. The Criminal Division panel, presided over by Monia Adami, with Sara Pelicci and Stefania Mosca-Angelucci as associates, ordered both men to be arrested and banned from residing in the Municipality of Sassari.
