A sexual assault trial opened in recent days in a court in Sassari. A sensitive case involving a 56-year-old man from Sassari, accused of abusing the woman with whom he had been romantically involved for approximately 20 days after contacting her on Messenger, claiming to be a relative. As it turned out, he had actually only dated the woman when she was younger.

According to the charges, the man, on three separate occasions in 2023, allegedly took advantage of his ex-partner, who was unable to react because she had taken powerful sleeping pills. Upon awakening, however, he felt as if he had been subjected to non-consensual sex and the phrase, reported in court by a relative of the woman, which was allegedly addressed to the 56-year-old: "Did you help yourself with your own hands?"

The family member apparently heard those words and understood what would happen if he wanted to attack the alleged rapist. He allegedly received a warning from the rapist: "I'll make you end up like the criminal I made my son end up."

This warning prompted the woman to intervene between the two before the situation escalated. At the next hearing, the defendant will be heard, represented by public defender Daniele Solinas, while the civil party is represented by lawyer Stefano Porcu. The panel is chaired by Monia Adami, with Sara Pelicci and Stefania Mosca-Angelucci co-chairing.
