Sassari: 93-year-old woman crashes car; rescue efforts fail.

Fatal accident this afternoon in Sassari.

It happened on Via delle Magnolie where, according to initial reports, Lejla Maria Nellj Cabras, 93 , lost control of the car she was driving—a Peugeot 108—perhaps due to illness , crashing into a fence . It is currently unknown whether the death occurred before or after the car impact. Emergency services, local police, and firefighters were on the scene. Rescue efforts were unsuccessful.

The victim, born in 1933, was originally from the Oristano area but resident in Sassari.
