A landfill in Sassari. One of many that "bloom" on the outskirts and along the ring of local roads, such as the Cabu d'Ispiga landfill, in the Belvedere di San Francesco area, cleaned up yesterday by 17 volunteers from Plastic Free, the nonprofit organization founded in 2019 dedicated to promoting projects and campaigns to protect the planet from plastic pollution.

Led by Roberto Manca, assisted by Serena Solinas and Maria Grazia Nieddu, the team found and collected approximately 5,000 kg of waste.

The illegally dumped items found were rich in variety, including plastic, cans, all types of iron, a tire, a boiler, a sofa, and various household items.

But also microwave ovens, a DVD player and a VCR, concrete artifacts, and the inevitable syringes. A mass of waste that will be removed by environmental workers while Plastic Free workers plan their next initiative.
