Sentenced to prison on charges of parental abuse. Yesterday in Sassari court, preliminary hearing judge Gian Paolo Piana handed down a sentence of one year and four months to a 44-year-old man from Alghero. The sentence was requested by prosecutor Angelo Beccu during the hearing.

According to the charges, the man allegedly insulted and threatened to kill his father and mother in Alghero on several occasions over a two-month period in 2025. The verbal attacks were caused, as defense lawyer Graziella Meloni noted, by the man's complicated situation, as he was experiencing great suffering.

The 44-year-old's personal psychological state had led to outbursts of rage, culminating in him spitting at the couple. Furthermore, in a fit of rage, the man also punctured two tires on his father's car, which were later repaired.

Family disputes had exacerbated a fragile internal condition until the events described occurred and the parents filed a complaint. However, they later dropped the charges and did not join the civil action.
