A 37-year-old Roman was convicted of harassment yesterday in court in Sassari. According to the accusation, the man sent thousands of messages on various social channels, from WhatsApp to Telegram, to a boy from the Sassari hinterland, 14 years old at the time , in the period from 2018 to 2019.
The contents of these, many of which were also sent during school hours, saw the accused threatening the minor, so the indictment reports, claiming for example that he would have an acquaintance of his prevent the young man from playing video games. Or complaining that the 14-year-old didn't respond to his messages right away even though he was online, or that he didn't tag him in Instagram stories .
And when the parents had taken away their son's mobile phone, once they resumed online activity, the accused claimed to make up for the time in which they had not spoken, quantifying it precisely as 320 minutes . Judge Paolo Bulla deemed the accusation of persecutory acts to be non-existent, as also supported by the defense lawyer Francesco Porcu, holding the man responsible only for harassment and ordering a month's arrest with the conditional suspension of the sentence .
