«If we were always this compact, Sarule would be a real jewel». Lucia Mureddu says few words but with disarming clarity. Perfect summary of a weekend to be remembered and undoubtedly replicated. The town that gave birth to the poet Badore Sini gave its best on Saturday and Sunday. “Environment Day” was a success. Around 150 volunteers, armed with brooms, shovels and brushcutters, cleaned up every corner of the town centre. «We couldn't wait any longer», says Emanuele Fadda, president of the Pro loco: «There were weeds everywhere, especially near the houses. The fire risk was high, so we intervened, also because the company in charge of the mowing operations had not yet started work."
Unity of purpose
The unique weekend dedicated to ecology began on Saturday morning, around 8.30. Many people from Sarule met in Piazza San Michele. Then, the various teams of citizens divided the tasks, the places in the country to clean and make shine . «We at Pro Loco, together with Prociv and the new administration led by mayor Maurizio Sirca, have decided to do something immediately», points out Emanuele Fadda, «I repeat, we couldn't wait any longer. The ring road was full of weeds and brushwood, right next to the houses. A few years ago a fire even touched my home. That's why, in record time, we got together and decided to intervene. On the other hand, public green spaces had not been paid attention to since January. However, everything went well, so much so that we have already scheduled a new and similar appointment for mid-July."
Shared pride
«Nothing is impossible, for Sarule, when he puts it in his head - Antonio Maccioni writes on Facebook -. Congratulations to the Pro Loco and the municipal administration. The latter, from the first day of its establishment, has demonstrated that it cares about urban decorum. The town, in fact, was in a state of abandonment." From the playground at the gates of the town centre, passing through the main street and the various squares: nothing was forgotten by the approximately 150 volunteers who worked non-stop for two days. The poster that had been circulating in Sarule for days, and constantly bouncing off residents' phones, had the desired effects. Few have snubbed or trashed it, many have followed the instructions of "Environment Day" to the letter. That phrase that condensed an approach, being a community: "Let's take care of our country". «Two days of hard work, but with good will and sacrifice you always get excellent results. We will meet again soon", promises the president of the Pro Loco, Emanuele Fadda. «The volunteers, especially the young people, have shown us that they care a lot about the decorum of our town. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, it fills us with joy to realize that we have a common goal. Nothing is really difficult when the work is divided into many small pieces."
