The eight shepherds who, on February 19, 2019, blocked the entrance of milk tankers to the Podda dairy in Sestu were sentenced to one month in prison .
The Cagliari Court issued a ruling finding the defendants responsible for the crime of domestic violence . The protesters had created a blockade in front of the dairy's entrance gates, preventing the passage of a tanker truck carrying 5,000 liters of goat's milk to the Ferruccio Podda plant.
The blockade continued for a period of time sufficient to render the transported milk unusable, thus causing damage to the transporting company and to the dairy.
The defendants' defense lawyers are awaiting the verdict's reasons , but have already announced that they will appeal because they believe that the crime of domestic violence was not committed.
