In Sardinia there are over 52 thousand foreign citizens resident, a growth of 3.6%.

The data emerges from the 2024 Immigration Report edited by Caritas and Migrantes presented in Cagliari at the headquarters of the Archbishop's Curia.

Immigrants represent 3.3% of the island's population, with the highest numbers recorded in Sassari with 21,993 and Cagliari with 16,157.

They come mainly from: Romania, Senegal, Morocco, China and Ukraine, but new citizenships are emerging especially from South East Asia . In Cagliari the largest community is the Filipino one with 1769 residents.

The report photographs the complexity of the phenomenon, trying to provide answers and solutions. The study shows that people move more for work or family reunions than for emergency situations.
