The Municipality of Sanluri is taking concrete action to combat waste abandonment, with the use of seven new photo traps that will be used to identify offenders. The mayor, Alberto Urpi, delivered them to the captain of the Barracellare Company Salvatore Pau: they will be positioned in the areas most at risk of illegal landfills, between the outskirts and the countryside.

In Sanluri the issue of waste abandonment is taken into serious consideration by the municipal administration. Despite awareness-raising activities and control by the local police and barracelli, open-air landfills have not disappeared . On the contrary: household waste, but also highly polluting waste such as batteries, cylinders and parts of small and large household appliances are among the most frequent.

"The Municipality is always at the forefront on this front", the message from the mayor of Sanluri, Alberto Urpi. " The uncivilized spoil the environment, pollute and are a huge cost for the community. Collaboration with the barracellare company is essential for patrolling the countryside ". The latest camera traps, just delivered, with motion sensors will be able to photograph and immortalize the ill-mannered who risk heavy fines from 75 to 1,200 euros and, in several cases, even criminal charges.

The camera traps were purchased with regional funds intended for the equipment of the Barracellari Companies, the Municipality of Sanluri obtained 101,000 euros, most of which were used to purchase a new off-road vehicle equipped for fire prevention (which will arrive before the summer) and for equipment and clothing for the Barracelli.
