The construction site for the new hospital of San Gavino Monreale is about to see the light. On 12 August Ares will deliver the works for the work financed for 68.4 million euros. “This is a fundamental work that the territory has been waiting for for over twenty years and which can now finally become a reality. We will give the Medio Campidano and the Sardinians a modern hospital on a conceptual and technologically advanced level, in line with the highest standards, capable of giving high-level responses to the needs for care and assistance of citizens ", said the president of the Region. The hospital, to be built with a schedule of about two and a half years, will be built in an area of 99 thousand square meters that will house the infrastructures, specific and differentiated traffic routes, parking spaces for staff and users (484 spaces for 14,756 square meters), green areas (52,260 square meters) and a helipad for the landing and departure of emergency vehicles.

“It will occupy a total area of about 32 thousand square meters - underlines the regional health councilor, Mario Nieddu - for an accommodation capacity of 214 beds and 28 technical places between dialysis and intensive short-term observation . It will be equipped with 6 operating rooms and 4 delivery rooms, an intensive / resuscitation and semi-intensive therapy, the transfusion center and collection center, dialysis, diabetology, and the medical oncological day hospital, in addition to cardiology with cardiological intensive care units and neurology with stroke. unit, the departments of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pediatrics, General Surgery and Orthopedics, Day Surgery and Week Surgery, General Medicine, as well as long-term care and rehabilitation ".

Three blocks are foreseen , connected to each other and with different functions: the reception and reception area on two levels above ground and a basement; the central body of the wards organized on four levels above ground and a basement, in the courtyard; the technological head plate organized on three levels above ground and a basement; there will also be a structure dedicated to nursery school.
