Samatzai, head-on collision on Provincial Road 5: one victim, mother and child trapped in wreckage

Fatal accident around 7am on Provincial Road 5 near Samatzai.

For reasons yet to be determined , a car driven by a man in his 80s and a car carrying a mother and child collided head-on.

The elderly man died instantly on impact. The woman in the other car was trapped in the wreckage, suffering minor injuries, as was her 17-year-old son, who was riding in the passenger seat.

118 and firefighters intervened on site to free the people trapped in the car, who were taken to hospital, and recover the body of the victim for whom, unfortunately, the paramedics were unable to do anything .

The Carabinieri are carrying out the investigations.
