The father is late for dinner, and his exasperated son throws a knife as soon as he sees him. In 2023, in Sorso, an already complicated family situation explodes when a 20-year-old , busy preparing dinner, repeatedly urges his father to show up at home, only to lose his temper when he arrives. During the argument, in addition to the exaggerated words, a knife with a 22-centimeter blade flies and lodges itself in a piece of furniture. It is found there by the Carabinieri who responded to the scene.

The presence of the military, however, didn't calm matters, as the younger man began to taunt the 50-year-old with remarks like, "As soon as they leave, I'll kill you!" The incident subsequently led to a complaint for mistreatment of cohabiting family members . Both the father and the accused's minor brother were reportedly subjected to frequent verbal abuse by the 20-year-old, and in the case of the father, even blows to his arm in a cast.

In recent weeks, during the prosecution hearing in Sassari, prosecutor Armando Mammone, failing to identify any mistreatment, requested that the charge be reclassified as assault, while also requesting a dismissal due to lack of a complaint. Today, in the Assize Court, prosecutor Maria Paola Asara, in light of the knife incident, raised the charge of attempted aggravated assault and requested a six-month prison sentence. Defense attorney Dario Piu had earlier dismissed the charges of mistreatment as unfounded.

At the end of the deliberation, the panel, chaired by Monia Adami, with Paolo Bulla and Stefania Mosca-Angelucci on her sides, classified the crime as threats and imposed a fine of 400 euros on the defendant.
