Among the committees that fight against energy speculation, satisfaction reigns after yesterday's presentation in Orgosolo of the popular initiative bill aimed at stopping the savage assault on the island. The activists say they are in full agreement with the mayors and ready to support the "Pratobello 24" and the nine articles that could represent the right tool to stop and save energy speculation to the detriment of Sardinia.

«We are in favor and will support this law with great honor, because we will be part of Sardinian history», assures Davide Meloni, of the Uta Territory Defense Committee. «We had already evaluated for some time the involvement of professionals in the legal field who could guide us towards a concrete solution to express the real participation of the people», assures Maria Grazia Demontis of the Gallura Committee. A moment of strength and cohesion that recalls the deeds of Pratobello, which - thanks to its history - stands out in the title of the proposed law.

«Our objective is to collect the greatest number of signatures to give consistency to the proposal, it is a democratic response, in addition to taking to the streets and doing sit-ins. We want to urge the Sardinian parliament to seriously deal with the problems that will arise from this enormous demand for wind energy installations which are a prelude to the total destruction of Sardinia, to wake up our regional councilors to make a serious law that protects the island", explained Pasquale Mereu, mayor of Orgosolo who did the honors in the crowded auditorium.

The law was born from the Sardinian Statute of 1948 and refers to the primary competence of the Region in the urban planning sector. The objective is to block new plants and those in progress with new urban planning regulations for all territories. After the applause, comes the appeal: we must go and sign and endorse the bill. To get the law to the benches of the two Chambers, 10 thousand signatures would be enough but the aim is for 50 thousand. For Stefania Murru, of the Nuorese Committee against energy speculation, "it is a tool that can give us concrete strength".
