A town united in the family's grief. A composed, extraordinary crowd, so many tears , the beautiful words of the parish priest Don Gianni Soro and Alessandro's godmother, who, reading the words prepared by his grief-stricken mother Daniela, moved everyone. "I am not looking for anyone to blame." She then asked (summarizing her moving words) that everyone remember Alessandro as the wonderful young man he was.

But there's certainly no doubt about this. Alessandro's many friends were there listening: those from elementary school and those from the boarding school he attended in Cagliari. And then the words of the parish priest, Don Gianni Soro, during the homily: " I knew Alessandro very well, a golden boy, capable of expressing his smile even with his eyes."

The pain

An overflowing crowd yesterday bid farewell to Alessandro Zizzaro, 19, the victim of the terrible accident the other night in Villasimius. The church wasn't big enough to accommodate the faithful. Many remained in the square. Then came the release of white balloons, before the endless procession to the cemetery where the burial took place.

A large expanse of flowers lay before the coffin. A town that literally rallied around the boy's family, whom everyone respects dearly.

The memory

But who was Alessandro? His uncle Mauro Vargiolu, president of Castiadas football club, says simply that "he was a sweet boy, with a smile plastered on his face. He played sports, was a soccer referee, and had lots of friends. He worked in the family restaurant. He studied in Cagliari and was due to graduate this year." Alessandro Zizzaro's tragedy has truly filled Villasimius with grief as it prepared for the post-New Year's Eve events. It was supposed to be a great celebration until Epiphany, with bingo and other events, but Mayor Luca Dessì canceled because "the celebration no longer had any meaning after the tragedy."

The evening

On Friday evening, Alessandro, a good sportsman, had played a game of soccer with his friends . Then, around 2:00 a.m., he got on his scooter. Four of his "almost peers" climbed into a red Fiat Seicento, perhaps on his way home. They drove along Via Matteotti.

Right at the end of this road, an unexplained tragedy occurred: the car and the scooter approached each other and collided. This is how the tragedy unfolded: Alessandro fell, hitting his head. The investigation is still ongoing.
