New expropriations are coming for the construction of the Tyrrhenian link , the pipeline that will connect Sicily and Sardinia.
Dozens of Quartese citizens have received the notice and now have thirty days to submit any observations.
Tensions are rising again, therefore, as the harsh press release from the Quartu No Tyrrhenian Link Committee testifies. «These days the notice of imposition of other expropriation and/or forced servitude constraints (electrode/passage easement) has been published on the notice board of the Municipality of Quartu, which will involve dozens and dozens of other citizens of Quartu, including agricultural companies» it reads.
"Nothing has been done about the environmental impact but especially about human health and today we all find ourselves having to endure this servitude without knowing what the consequences will be for the citizens. The mayor said that it was a small cable that would pass over the public road, which is not true in light of the consultancy ordered by the Selargius administration according to which the Tyrrhenian link cable would appear to cause serious consequences not only to vegetation but also to human health . No study on the impact on health has been done, which is a duty given the scale of the work under construction."
In the public notice, Terna specifies that " the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has delegated (with the power to sub-delegate) the company to exercise all expropriation powers provided by law ." The message is clear: the mega project is moving forward without second thoughts.
