The harvest of the members of the Cantina di Quartu, based in Maracalagonis, has begun. It will begin with the harvest of Vermentino: a harvest of about 2,500 quintals is expected, a quantity not much lower than last year.
"In these days - says Lucien Angei, the winery's oenologist - we have monitored the vineyards with particular attention to the sugar content which today stands between 15 and 16 degrees. With the Vermentino we will continue for two weeks on pre-established days, as mentioned. We will certainly arrive at grapes with a few more degrees. We are doing a scheduled harvest. In short, we know in advance who will harvest on Monday and in the following days".
"Once the Vermentino harvest is over - adds President Giuseppe Farci - we will continue with the red grapes, with Siray, Sangiovese, Cannonau and Monica. We will certainly have quality grapes and wines, as always. We are certainly experiencing difficult seasons with the drought and the torrid heat that has been going on for months, hammering the countryside and its plants".
