The ordinance of the Local Police of Porto Torres blocks the use of the lift of a facility for the elderly. The provision signed by the municipal commander, Katia Onida, was adopted following some checks on the structure of the former Torres hotel, with entrance in via Risorgimento, which revealed some discrepancies in the lift, which does not have a serial number and therefore a license of exercise.

Among the critical issues is the lack of periodic biennial or extraordinary checks by the inspection body on the forklift of the condominium, which hosts the "Il Rifugio" housing community for the elderly. The stop order was also decided due to the conditions of the machinery which has old switches, walls and ceilings that are shabby and damp, expired oil delivery pipes, oil leaks between the cylinder and piston and the absence of the registration plate in the cabin. . Furthermore , there is the failure to clean the pit, the non-functioning lighting and the absence of the lift booklet and register at the time of the inspection.

The immediate shutdown of the system, in the former Torres hotel, prevents its use with consequent prohibition on its operation by the condominium administrator, in order to safeguard public and private safety. Activation will be possible only after obtaining the serial number, presenting the necessary documentation to the administrative police office and following the restoration of the system's compliance conditions. The ban on use will cause quite a few inconveniences for the guests of the retirement community.
