Giovanni Sotgiu, 68, was not a barber from Porto Torres , he was the barber par excellence of the city. Certainly the best known: reference point for entire generations. He died after a long illness, against which he fought hard. The news of his disappearance immediately went around the city and the entire island, where Giovanni was well known. And not just by insiders.

Frank, cheerful, with an easy joke, he was above all the barber of young people, always up to date and in step with the new fashions and cuts of the times. He was also often the confidant of the boys, like the real barbers of the past. For all a word of encouragement and comfort. Giovanni Sotgiu began his profession early in the workshop of Giovannino Madeddu (in Corso Vittorio Emanuele), who in turn became the oldest barber in Italy. Then he moved to his own business in via Ettore Sacchi, where he practiced the profession for decades. Always with great passion and humility. With him goes an important part of the city: the hard-working one at the service of others.
