A six-hour plea, which reconstructed the fundamental stages of the seven-year trial on the so-called "poisons of Quirra", to conclude with the request for acquittal of the eight commanders of the military range of Perdasdefogu, at the stand in Lanusei with the accusation of "aggravated willful omission of precautions against accidents and disasters".
The prosecutor accuses the accused of not having banned the military areas where explosions and missile launches took place and of not having provided personal protective equipment.
The lawyer Andrea Chelo opened the argument: "The environmental disaster in the polygon is non-existent, given the expert opinion ordered by the GUP who produced the report by the super expert Mariano Mariani who ruled out the environmental disaster. But there are also numerous scientific investigations. who support it, not least the Services Conference closed in 2015. This means that there is no pollution in Quirra ".
The defender then dwelt on the "non-existence of chemical radioactive danger which was contested by the public prosecution, due to the fact that nothing was found, both from the outcome of Professor Mariani's report and from the reports of the defense counsel under discussion. As for the presence of thorium in the area, it has not been found to a greater extent than in other areas where it cannot be said that there is human activity and the quantities found in the body of the exhumed corpses are in line with the average of the population. of the accused because the fact does not exist or for not having committed the fact and in the alternative due to the lack of willful misconduct: never proved that those areas were polluted ".
The prosecutor Biagio Mazzeo asked for a 4-year sentence for the six commanders of the central polygon and three for the two commanders of the military training area overlooking the sea, who must answer only for the damage to the seabed.
