A diver decided to dive despite the sea weather conditions were prohibitive, with waves up to three meters high and gusts of wind up to 80 kilometers per hour .

It took a very complex intervention by the men of the Coast Guard of La Maddalena, assisted by a land patrol and a helicopter from the Fire Brigade.

The episode took place yesterday off Capo d'Orso , in the municipality of Palau.

A local diving center reported to the Operations Room of the Harbor Master's Office the disappearance of its own diver, who had dived and had not given any more news.

The intervention of the CP 870 patrol boat was immediate, challenging the adverse weather conditions. Also employed were a land patrol, the rubber boat of the Diving center and, given the breadth of the stretch of sea, a helicopter of the provincial fire brigade command .

The diver was found and rescued after two hours of searching . He had ended up adrift, off the coast of Baja Sardinia in the territory of Arzachena. Luckily he was in good health.

The Port Authority of La Maddalena calls all nautical operators to " greater prudence in carrying out their commercial activities ", especially on days "in which the marine weather conditions are not favorable", given the non-observance of these simple and basic rules “can seriously jeopardize the protection of human life”.
