Vittorio Mura has turned one hundred . A laborer and farmer, he lived through the floods and, like all his fellow villagers, rolled up his sleeves to contribute to the town's reconstruction.

A widower for some time, the grandfather has five children. He lives in his home on Via Roma, where he is cared for by two daughters. Today he also received a visit from the mayor of Osini, Alfredo Cannas .

The town nestled beneath the Ogliastra Heels confirms its reputation as a land of longevity. It boasts a high concentration of centenarians as a percentage of residents: eight out of 701 inhabitants.

Television crews and scholars from abroad are expected in the next few days to further study the phenomenon.
