A car and a motorcycle ended up in a ditch after colliding this afternoon along state road 199, near Oschiri.

The motorcyclist – an Austrian citizen –   and the driver of the car were injured and transported to the hospital. The 118 operators, the firefighters and the Carabinieri of the Ozieri Company's radiomobile unit intervened on site and carried out surveys to ascertain the dynamics of the accident and any responsibilities.

According to initial findings , the accident was caused by failure to yield. The motorcyclist was transported by Areus helicopter to the emergency room of the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari with critical condition. He suffered an open fracture to his right leg and facial trauma.

The driver of the car suffered a chest injury from the seatbelt and was taken to the hospital in Olbia by an ambulance, also in critical condition.
