The investigation into a massive drug trafficking ring between Oristano and Cabras ended with 23 suspects. The operation led to the arrest of six people for drug dealing, the reporting of three young people for personal use and the overall seizure of over 100 grams of cocaine and 800 grams of marijuana . The investigation, which lasted about two years and began in 2020, allowed 23 people to be reported at large, many of whom were already known to the police, originally from the municipalities of Oristano , Cabras and San Basilio , as well as some people of Romanian origin.

It all started with a check carried out in the town of Cabras which revealed a major retail drug dealing business, run by a well-known local repeat offender, his brother and his sons.
The investigations continued with shadowing, observations, telephone and environmental interceptions. Thus it emerged that a young man with no criminal record from Oristano, with the help of two other boys, ran a very active drug dealing business, with quantities of cocaine that often exceeded hundreds of grams per week, a high quantity for the area. The drug dealing network was discovered after several arrests in flagrante and the discovery and seizure of drugs hidden in the countryside, in places not attributable to the suspects.

The results were also achieved thanks to the support of special units of the Carabinieri, such as the Dog Unit of the Helicopter Squadron "Cacciatori di Sardegna" of Abbasanta with the use of specialized dogs for the search for narcotics, including the dog Kyra, the Ris of Cagliari and the local Stations.
