Swimming is prohibited along the stretch of coastline between Portisco and Petra Ruja, in Olbia. Following analyses conducted by ARPAS Sardegna, the presence of Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci at abnormal concentrations was detected along the La Cannita stretch of coastline. To protect public health, Mayor Settimo Nizzi has issued an ordinance temporarily prohibiting swimming along the affected 2,370-meter stretch of coastline until normal conditions are restored, which will be certified by new sampling.

"Protecting the health of citizens and visitors is our priority, so we have immediately adopted all necessary measures, pending further analytical findings," the mayor said. He added: "We are confident that the parameters will quickly return to normal and will promptly inform the public about the situation's evolution."
