Olbia Airport is preparing for a leap forward : the first direct intercontinental connection to New York will begin in summer 2026.

The news comes from Delta Air Lines , which has chosen Sardinia as its new destination thanks to the votes of SkyMiles program members in the "Route Race" contest. The initiative, which involved thousands of travelers, rewarded the island, guaranteeing its entry into the American airline's transatlantic flight network.
