The countdown to the New York-Olbia flight's takeoff is on, and Sardinia is scrolling across the three LED screens in Times Square. The announcement was made by the regional Tourism Councilor, Franco Cuccureddu, who posted photos and videos on social media demonstrating the island's promotion in the US.

"A day of important official meetings today in New York, involving a delegation composed of representatives from the Department of Tourism, tourism entrepreneurs, and the three airports. In the morning, we met with the Director General of the US Chamber of Commerce in Italy, Simone Crolla, and in the afternoon we were received by the Italian Consul General in New York, Giuseppe Pastorelli, and by ENIT's North American market manager, Caterina Orlando," Cuccureddu wrote. The flight between the Costa Smeralda and JFK begins on May 21st, with four weekly flights until October 23rd.
