To oppose the expulsion orders issued during demonstrations against the arrival of groups of Israelis at Costa Smeralda Airport , pro-PAL activists are launching a fundraising campaign . Reacting to the orders issued by the Sassari Police Headquarters, which require them to be expelled from the Olbia Municipality for a year, the protesters are asking for a contribution to cover the legal costs of filing an appeal.
"Some activists are immediately exempted from serious repression for demonstrating in solidarity with the Palestinian people, peacefully expressing their dissent, without being charged with any crime or illegal behavior," the activists write. They continue: "These expulsion orders are not based on any of the conditions set out in the law, such as posing a threat to society. The activists affected by this shameful act of repression will appeal, but will have to pay legal fees to do so."
Launched yesterday, the Gofundme donation drive has already raised over €1,300. The expulsion orders issued to a dozen activists have already been the subject of parliamentary inquiries and question time in the Chamber of Deputies: deputies from the AVS and M5S parties have called for the measures to be revoked immediately.
