The city of Nuoro will also be connected to the national railway network . The Abbasanta-Nuoro will take place, the certainty was given today by the RFI leaders in connection with the territorial technical table convened in the Prefecture to take stock of the situation.

An infrastructure that the city has always been waiting for, it is currently only served by the Arst narrow gauge trains that connect it with Macomer. Nuoro, together with Matera, is the only Italian provincial capital not to be connected to the national railway network , for Matera the project which will bring trains in 2026 has already been approved.

RFI, which started the feasibility study for the 50 kilometers of route that separates Nuoro from Abbasanta last August 2 after the meeting at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, has ensured the continuation of the technical study, which will end in 2024 , with inspections in the area.

« A historic day for Nuoro – rejoices the prefect Gianfranco Dionisi -, RFI has definitively discarded the hypothesis of connecting Nuoro with Macomer and has chosen to continue the feasibility study on the Nuoro-Abbasanta. Essential infrastructure for the territory, not only to give citizens the right to a railway they have never had, but also in view of the candidacy of SOS Enattos for the construction of the Einstein Telescope ".

The prefect thanks Matteo Salvini : «He gave the political impulse to start planning this infrastructure. While waiting for the railway to arrive, we are working with Trenitalia so that a shuttle can soon be operational to transport people from Abbasanta to Nuoro."

In addition to the managers of the Ministry and RFI, representatives of the regional transport department and of the Province of Nuoro and the mayors of Nuoro and Abbasanta participated in the technical table in presence or in connection.
