Nuoro, new "30 zones" with raised crossings are born
Work began a few days early. Workers were in action on Via Catte, Viale Murichessa, and Viale Repubblica.Work has begun a few days ahead of schedule to extend the new "30 zone" in Nuoro.
The first construction sites for the raised crossings, which accompany the new speed limit, are already underway: this morning, work was well underway on Via Catte, Viale Murichessa, and Viale Repubblica. This represents an acceleration compared to the originally scheduled date of May 6th, which nevertheless marks the operational launch of the new phase of the municipal road safety plan. The core of the measure concerns the creation of 30-kilometer zones, which are being established at the new raised pedestrian crossings.
In these areas, the speed limit is set at 30 km/h, not across the board, but concentrated along the sections where raised crossings will be installed. These raised crossings are designed to physically force vehicles to slow down and increase pedestrian safety. The raised pedestrian crossings—actual speed bumps integrated with the pedestrian crossings—are installed on Via Catte at the intersection with Via Foscolo, on Viale Murichessa near the former nursery, and on Viale Repubblica, where a speed detection system is also planned at the intersection with Via Tempio. These same areas therefore have their own "30 km/h zones."
