“Happy Birthday Mediterranean Diet,” reads one banner. From Rome to Sardinia there is a unanimous voice, that of the farmers who strongly oppose artificial food . Today, at the demonstration organized in Largo Chigi, in the capital, there were also many representatives of the island, determined to support the definitive approval of the bill that bans cell-based products, on the day of the final vote.
A clear position, and already easily understood from that Coldiretti signature collection which brought together 20 thousand adhesions from Sardinia , among the over 2 million in the rest of Italy. Among the autographs, also that of the presidents of the Region Christian Solinas and of the Regional Council Michele Pais, but also of councilors, councilors and mayors.
«We are at a crucial point in our battle against laboratory-produced foods» , comments the president of Coldiretti Sardinia, Battista Cualbu, «which not only conflict with Made in Italy but which still do not provide certainties about their own healthiness . The constant success in our Campagna Amica markets", he adds, "demonstrates how much the Italian population continues to prefer healthy and zero kilometer products, in particular those of our tradition".
The director of Coldiretti, Luca Saba, instead places emphasis on what still remains in the shadows: «The Coldiretti battle against foods created in laboratories», he explains, «has always had the aim of defending our agri-food from aggression which come from foods that are anything but safe, as authoritative scientific studies have also confirmed. Behind this system, in fact, there are still too many interests of many multinationals, driven by purely economic interests ."
