Widespread action to combat bird trapping across vast areas of Sulcis by the Forestry Corps and environmental watchdogs.
In particular , numerous poaching sites were discovered in the Giba, Masainas, and Portoscuso areas, where dozens of nets had been set up to intercept the passage of birds, as well as deadly snap traps.

Illegal and indiscriminate trapping devices were used to capture various birds, including protected species, including a kestrel and a barn owl. The two birds of prey were immediately released, along with all the other birds found alive.
Sant'Antioco Forestry Station officers disarmed, removed, and seized all illegal trapping devices. In Giba, one person was caught red-handed and reported to the Judicial Authorities for the crime of bird trapping.
The Forestry Corps' anti-poaching efforts are carried out throughout the Sulcis Iglesiente area.
