Murder in the cell at Bancali prison, the prisoner was "incapable of understanding"

When he attacked and killed his cellmate, in the Sassari prison of Bancali, he was totally incapable of understanding and wanting.

This was established by the psychiatric reports filed and illustrated today in the hearing in the presence of the forensic psychiatrist Giuseppe Ferri appointed by the lawyer Simone Vargiu, defender of the accused, after the evaluation against Giuseppe Pisano, the prisoner who had smashed his head at the end of July , using a stool, to Graziano Piana .

Even today the murderer, despite being able to support a proceeding, has a diminished ability to understand and presents a high social danger.

For this reason , the prosecutor asked as a precautionary measure that the man be transferred to a Rems (residence for the execution of security measures) to receive adequate treatment or, in the absence of available places, to a psychiatric clinic, guarded by the agents .

Even the defense, in the impossibility of hospitalization in Rems, requested transfer to a high-density care community.

Also in the courtroom was the civil party lawyer, Paolo Spano, representing the Piana family.

The investigating judge has reserved the decision and will adopt a measure in the next few hours.

But in the meantime , a complaint presented by the lawyer Rosaria Manconi on behalf of Pisano's mother is still pending before the Public Prosecutor's Office , asking that any responsibility be ascertained for the tragedy that took place in the Bancali prison on the night between Tuesday 26 and Wednesday July 27, after Pisano had been arrested for drunkenness and abuse in the family.

The document states that the man "needed treatment, not prison. There was already a psychiatric report which defined him as socially dangerous. He should not go to a cell with other prisoners".
