Monsignor Antonio Tamponi is the new diocesan administrator of the Archdiocese of Sassari. The election took place according to the provisions of the Code of Canon Law: the College of Consultors proceeded to elect the successor of Monsignor Gianfranco Saba appointed by Pope Francis as Military Ordinary of Italy.
Don Tamponi accepted the assignment, taking on with a spirit of service and a sense of responsibility a temporary leadership of the Diocese , until the canonical possession by the new archbishop, whom Pope Leo XIV will appoint for the church of Sassari.
In recent days , the former archbishop Monsignor Saba had greeted the various churches of the province of Sassari and Olbia and gathered the parish priests of the diocese in the basilica of San Gavino in Porto Torres.
