A food warehouse in precarious hygienic conditions. Dirty, with mold, pests, and refrigerators unsuitable for food storage .

The NAS Carabinieri found him at the San Gemiliano festival in Sestu , according to a press release from the force.

The checks, carried out as part of the “Street Food” campaign organized by the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Health, also in light of the cases of botulism poisoning at the Fiesta Latina in Monserrato , targeted roadside cafes and kiosks set up in Sestu for the event.

During an inspection of a kiosk-restaurant, the Carabinieri found a 20-square-meter warehouse used by the business to store food and beverages without properly notifying the health authorities.

As reported in the Carabinieri statement, once inside the warehouse, the soldiers noted the appalling hygienic conditions. Dirt was everywhere, pests were present, refrigerators unsuitable for food storage, and mold grew on the old and worn internal components of the equipment .

The NAS military thus sealed the warehouse, seized all the equipment and stored food pending the health authority's assessment of its suitability for consumption. The business owner was fined a total of 9,000 euros .
